Blog 365 ~ Breyerfest Re-Cap

I'm up early enough to get today's devotional read before heading to 'work'...

Brought along some work while waiting for  runners to start showing up.

I knew today's race was going to be HUGE, attendance and otherwise, so there's 2 separate photo galleries...and results link.

2023 Pre-Race, Kids Dash, Start, Breyerfest Sulky Sprint 5K

7-16-23 FINISH LINE, Breyerfest Sulky Sprint 5K

BreyerFest Sulky Sprint 5K Results

A lot of runners took the time and went for a run (or walk!) for the BreyerFest© Sulky Sprint 5K Run/Walk!  After the race, participants were invited to spend their afternoon seeing all the beautiful sights of the Kentucky Horse Park as part of Breyerfest©

The 'Top 6' finishers regardless of gender received the Breyer model ATP Power, Amberly Snyder’s Barrel Racing Horse, Traditional Scale. With overall awards based on gun time, so it is the first six finishers to cross the finish line.

The top 6 finishers in age groups, regardless of gender, each received the Breyer Mahogany Bay Arabian Freedom Series.

Age group awards again was based on chip time (Elapsed time from when runner crosses the starting line mat to when he/she crossed the finish mat).

For me, the runners being grouped together instead of separate male/female age groups was not fair. I know there's an expense involved for awards but Come On!!
I did enjoy seeing the horse patrol,

Ready to shoot....

It's always great to see a runner return back to doing their thing,
there was another team taking pic's and I assumed they were the 'offical' photographers, Lucky me got to be asked to do finish line photos !

I found this etched window glass and thought 🤔what if I can fit the Alltech logo in there....

A portion of proceeds will go to Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement  (www.oldfriendsequine.org)    Founded in 2003 by former Boston Globe film critic Michael Blowen, Old Friends is a Thoroughbred Retirement Facility in Georgetown, KY that now cares for more than 250 horses whose racing and breeding careers came to an end. A “living history museum of horse racing”, the farm attracts nearly 20,000 tourists annually that get up close and personal with such stars of the turf as 1997 Kentucky Derby winner Silver Charm, three-time Santa Anita Handicap victor Game on Dude, Belmont Stakes winners Birdstone, Touch Gold, and Sarava, and one-time Kentucky Derby contender Patch. By promoting these one-time celebrated horses through a campaign of education and tourism, Old Friends aims to draw attention to the need for widespread Thoroughbred aftercare. The farm is open to the public for tours Thursday - Sunday. Reservations are required. Book online at www.oldfriendsequine.org
