2 weeks of -- well you know what!!

My last post was Here, July 15th...little did I know that the weekend after this would have me in the throws of the beginnings of saving the Mr's life until EMT/EMS made it to my house....my house looked like something you see on a crime show. Blood was from the bedroom, to the bathroom, down my hallway and finally into my dining room where I was able to get the Mr to Sit Down. The thing will bleeding and the Mr is he kept lifting the rag to 'see' if the bleeding was stopped or easing up...Geez Oh Pete the BLOOD was POURING from his femoral artery! I had to lay on his leg with all my body and talk to 911 on speaker. Oh and the thing with having Great Friends in High places...the 911 dispatcher is the daughter of one of my friends so while we knew not to say each others name, she called her parents and they checked on me ASAP!

The Mr ended up being in the hospital for 10days...10 Looong Days.... once I finally was able to get him home I posted this info...

#nursewifelife Home Edition!! That's Right. . We are finally Home !
I can't thank everyone enough for All The Thoughts and Prayers, my apologies if I haven't responded to you who have called/text/FB msg... here's the run down of the past 10 days (day 1 he was in ER)
1548 miles driven (@bobbie087 drove on first night),
6 gas fill ups,
27 hrs driving,
80 hrs visiting,
2 breakfast while driving,
1 breakfast out,
6 breakfast at home,
9 lunches & snacks packed to eat when hubby ate his lunch (first night he was in ER),
8 simple dinners at home,
1 dinner out (?who can afford it?),
Worked a race on Saturday,
45 Hours slept,
Every day chores were done, grass mowed & trimmed, cats fed and their needs met, cleaned blood from carpet, scrubbed blood from bathroom, hallway and dining room floors.
Tears cried .. BUCKETS !!

Now we are home with Home Health [requested by me] and PT three times a week. They came and did an assessment, PT left instructions for walking and exercises and appointments to return...has he done them 😏 not really, says it hurts to much, and I'm sure it does. But sometimes you need to hurt before you're healed...Right? I don't know, but what I do know is I'm Tired! I'm trying my best to be supportive. I'm trying to make him understand there's 'Other people that can take care of things. I'm trying to Understand why he doesn't realize We. Are. Older! it's going to take time to bounce back and resume normal activities. Next week we have 3 different Doctor appointments as follow-ups from his surgery and stay in hospital, we'll see what they have to say and go from there.

*****

Oh Well! What I do know is this...August 1st I will be getting back to my walk/run schedule, I will be scheduling time to get my 'to-do' list items completed, and that includes Blogging on a regular basis.

*****

After talking to a couple of friends, the Mayor, a Magistrate and Judge Exec [again friends in HIGH places] they made a point to mention the 911/DFD/EMT/EMS/AirVac during meetings, I told them I was going to send a letter to our local newspaper,  the screen shot below is what I sent along with the social media posts thanking those who helped me. My letter was published 7/30/21

Until next time,

So far this week.....

😏

When you run out of time on Tuesday...I discovered by accident a really useful Tip to share. You know how after you slice into a head of iceburg lettuce, and store it for later  it turns 'brown'ish'? I was fixing a salad a while back, after taking the outer layer off the head of lettuce I decided to use it on the bottom of my cut head...more than anything it was because I was busy and didn't want to take time throw it in the garden.

well guess what??? I was fixing another salad a few days later and when I lifted the head out to cut

I notice the sliced side wasn't as 'brown'ish' as it always had been before ..and it seems like the head lasts a bit longer in the fridge. Win Win!!

Busy Three Day Wrap-Up!

Wednesday--Thursday--Friday

A week ago we had a failed surgery attempt on the Mr's left leg, resulting in a more 'in depth' surgery this week...

***

Norton Hospital 'pre-op' team were thorough, and didn't hesitate to explain what they were doing and who would be coming in next...

***

we were there later in the day so I packed Lunch, snacks, water & a couple books.

***

I was told the surgery could be 2ish hrs IF no complications. 1hr20min later the Dr gives me a call and is pleased with the surgery, said he would be in recovery then head to ICU (pre-cautionary)
Once I physically seen, talked, and touched Mr I headed home.

***

as like most hospital procedures they want you up and moving as quickly as possible, PT showed up and went through all the plans and motions, since this is something we've been through before it took no time to complete the walking and exercises, they were impressed and signed off giving Mr the OK to walk as many times he wanted or could handle. OT (occupational therapy) also came in (forgot her pic) and signed off as well.

***

I took his phone home with me so he could get some rest after surgery...
Geez!! catching up on ALL..The..Phone..Calls..!
Though I do appreciate those that texted, social media posted, emailed, & calls giving their Prayers getting caught up took a while, LOL. He really didn't take much pain meds while I was there so I asked him to take one and rest but then the nurse came in and told us he had been transitioned 'down' and would be going to a regular room. Once he was moved and had dinner I went home (another late night).

***

The next day He was waiting for me in the hall so off to walk (PT) and we ended up enjoying Annie's Healing Garden,

So soothing, quiet, and relaxing.

***

We got back to his room in time to have a 'Picnic' lunch together, we talked, watched some TV, checked social media. Thinking Mr was going to stay another night we were Very Surprised when head nurse Carolina brought in discharge papers....

she removed the last IV port--it was huge! and in his neck of all things! And away we left.
There's still lot's to do for his recovery, of Course walk, do his exercises, NO driving yet, only sponge baths do to having a 'blood ball', empty and record drainage of ball, and no lifting until follow up appointment in a week or so. I know all of this is going to be hard on him, he wants to be busy, go to gym, work at the church etc. I'll be shocked if he makes it a week!

Getting a good night's rest and ready to enjoy the weekend!

Hugs, Kisses, Be Safe Wishes!

Happy Homemaker Monday [Tuesday Edition]

Hoping to join in with Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom for the Happy Homemaker Link Up, even though I'm joining on a Tuesday [oops]. On Monday I did a 'recovery' walk/run to loosen up these crazy bones that decided a 10K was a smart idea!

just over 2 miles at a smooth slower pace,

Then it was time to get some mowing/trimming done....
it got Hot🌞Fast...

the nephew came over and asked if there was any chores he could do to earn money for a new game thingy he wanted so we made a deal that if he trimmed down the lilies for me I would give him 20$...he was soo excited! and though he's not done yet...
he's doing a good job!

I was able to get in the garden and pick salad for dinner...

Now onto Happy Homemaker Monday...

Weather this Week...

What's for Breakfast...
The Hubby made Oatmeal on Monday,
     Biscuits & Gravy
rest of the week will be cereal or Grab & Go since the Hub's has surgery Wednesday with expected hospital stay of 2-3 days.

What I'm reading...

taking these with me for waiting room reading.

TV Shows this week...
Chicago Fire is on ION channel--these are earlier shows so not re-runs for us

Menu Plan...
Keeping it simple, cooking ahead Chicken Breast, Pork Loin and a piece of Steak, Hubby's choice of what ever he wants to eat, Wed-Fri I'll most likely just throw a small TV dinner item in microwave since I won't be home until late these days.

Goal/ToDo List...
     1. Mow - Done Monday
     2. Laundry - working
     3. Walk/Run - gonna try for 8 miles, I'll be happy with 🤷whatever...
     4. Meal Plan - keeping it simple

Weekend Wrap-Up

 Saturday July 3RD:

Soooo not sure when I signed up for the Bluegrass 10000, and not sure What Was I Thinking signing up for a 10K, but I did. I started getting email updates about the race, it was still a Virtual event which is fine by me. Then it happened....it went LIVE...as in a In-Person race event. Okay I thought I'll still just continue to participate virtually and be good, well with everything going on with the Hubby and not really being focused on 'my' things I missed the confirmation email {sigh}...Crap! I got the email for race packets to get picked up and just figured I'll go get mine and the Kid hers while I'm there and just go and take her race pictures, cause you know that's what I do.

She. Didn't. Sign. Up!! WTH ! And now what...?

The day came for me to go get 'My' race packet. I still had time to decide what I was going to do, run it on my own time, when I could ...or... show up at the race.

The night before I kept thinking😒if I don't feel like it in the morning, I'm not going...

Yeah, I went. Below is proof,

I arrived early, used the porta potty [not in the fountain weirdo]

meandered around

mingled with a few runners,

So many runners, So Many runners that I normally am at the finish line taking their finish line photo. They were thrilled to see me actually doing a race,
the 'Big Hand' was there aka Jenny

and turn around point entertainment...

mile 4ish...still out there - I mean where was I going to go at this point ?!?
Still trying not to look at my watch to see how Long I had been walk/walk/more walk/running, still I had my focus on 3 other runners that I figured If I could keep up with them I'll be ok...

I Was OKAY!
I Did This!
I'm Officially a 10K'r !
When's the next one you ask??? RTB 10K in October, with a goal of trying for this time or better. Can I do it? Maybe...but I'm going and doing what I can.

*****     *****
July 4th

Sunday - Early:ThirtyAM morning getting ready for the Inaugural Independence Day 5K. It's odd to have a race on a Sunday but when there's opportunities you take them.

the sun was making a beautiful appearance,

the Start/Finish line ready,

Post Covid when you promote/advertise a race Runners Will Come!

Here's 👇👇 Proof
Linda Word of Fore Word pacers was lead bicycle for the runners...THEN ran the race!

And of course let's not forget the Kid & Crew [-Sherry who was on vaca]

Luckily after all the finishers and awards were done I was able to make it back home for Church services with the Mr...the rest of the day was spent getting things in order for the Mr.'s surgery...then loading/sharing/posting race pictures.

That's it for now and my very first Weekend Wrap-Up!
