Blog 365 ~ Dang IT, It's HOT!

It's been so Incredibly Hot lately, as I know it's been elsewhere, that I've stayed in as much as possible. It's the humidity that gets me every single time. Heat indexes have ranged anywhere from 96%[on a good day] to 106% 😓... so, staying inside & playing some catch-up reading for my personal/self-improvement growth with a couple of chapters of Atomic Habits. Though I should have gone myself, No early morning walk with Gal Pal. Her PawBaby had a vet appointment this morning.

My only venture out was to take the G'Kid for her follow up Dr appointment. She's much better but still needs to keep an eye out on how her sinus does. Her cough isn't gone yet but not as prevalent as it was. Luckily her work schedule has allowed her to stay home and take the meds....

Snail Mail brought my new Bolder Athletic Wear purchase to my door... Meet Enchanted Rose...as an Ambassador I've been saving up my 'points' waiting for the right time & right purchase to use them...60% off = Yes Please!

Time for dinner which for tonight will be Shrimp Alfredo!

Blog 365 ~ Few Words Wednesday

From my 'beginnings' as the wild-child growing up in Northern Indiana being told I wouldn't amount to anything, to the person I am today.
And so much more.

Another early morning walk with Gal Pal Margaret.

So good to be back in Wednesday Noon Day Bible Study....

Extra leftover meat made into meatballs for a dinner later.

** Goal/To Do List **
I'm working on the list, prioritizing as I go...

** Around The House **
Thank goodness it's in good shape, otherwise ... well I don't want to think about it.

** Project this Week **
Blog post catch-up, morning walk with Gal Pal Margaret, Meal plan & prep all that I can, budget/sinking funds review.

** Todays Motivation **

** Favorite blog post last week (mine or other) **
Again, I'm behind....my plan is to read & catchup during commercials while TV watching...

** Something fun to share **
I'll be doing 'Sweet 16' picture for the youngest G'Kid this weekend. I can't wait to show her off. And I'm booked for Baby Bump photo shoot for a friend of mine next month...

** Looking forward to this week **
More Morning Walks with Gal Pal Margaret & Bentley!!
Even though it's slow going it's still steps that end up as a couple of miles. And before the heat of the day. I have a race coming up soon so getting a few miles of a morning is better than No Miles.

** From the camera **
[sigh!!] and yet another stray[?] has found us....the hubby calls him GrayBoy. He's not friendly as of yet, but thinking eventually he'll come around. Due to his size and age, I've told the hubby he can stay only outdoors. I already have SIX CATS IN MY HOUSE and just can't do anymore. I don't think the indoor boys would appreciate it either...

** On my prayer list **
So Many, mainly our Country.

** Devotional **
Lord, help me to recognize and live by my limitations.
I don't want to be swept along by busyness just because the world I live in is so frantic.
Instead, help me to 'Order' my life according to your priorities.

Blog 365 ~ Crank & Boom 3K race re-cap

Another chance to be at Wellington Park for ICE 🍨🍦CREAM...
I mean work a race for ICE CREAM🍦🍨

8th Annual Crank & Boom Sprint For Scoops 3K on this muggy evening...438 runner/walkers have signed up for this simple 3K event...🍦it's the chance for 🍦...and of course the charity partner FEED.

Partial proceeds and 100% of runner/walker donations will benefit Fayette Eating Education & Delivery (FEED). FEED is working to help students in Lexington one school at a time by providing weekend food bags so these kids have food on the weekend when they aren't in school.

FEED offers weekend bags of food (distributed on Fridays) and financial resources for backpack programs to Lexington schools for children in need. Financial resources are distributed to the school's Family Resource Coordinator for the singular purpose to provide weekend backpacks for their students in need. These financial resources are provided on an application basis and help "fill in the gaps" in existing backpack programs.

FEED is currently providing the actual backpacks for a number of Fayette County schools. If a school is being serviced by FEED, these bags contain shelf stable milk, fruit, vegetable, protein, grain, and a snack. A fresh fruit or vegetable is provided when available.

One bag of food costs approximately $6, with shelf stable milk being the most expensive item. A single bag is packed with dairy, fruit/vegetable, protein, and grains. All items are shelf stable. Their goal is to provide fresh fruit, such as apples or oranges, when possible.

Time for this chick to relax a bit and get some sleep...no race in the morning but lot's to get done before it gets too hot, and a busy week ahead.

Blog 365 ~ Breyerfest Re-Cap

I'm up early enough to get today's devotional read before heading to 'work'...

Brought along some work while waiting for  runners to start showing up.

**********

I knew today's race was going to be HUGE, attendance and otherwise, so there's 2 separate photo galleries...and results link.

2023 Pre-Race, Kids Dash, Start, Breyerfest Sulky Sprint 5K

7-16-23 FINISH LINE, Breyerfest Sulky Sprint 5K

BreyerFest Sulky Sprint 5K Results

A lot of runners took the time and went for a run (or walk!) for the BreyerFest© Sulky Sprint 5K Run/Walk!  After the race, participants were invited to spend their afternoon seeing all the beautiful sights of the Kentucky Horse Park as part of Breyerfest©

The 'Top 6' finishers regardless of gender received the Breyer model ATP Power, Amberly Snyder’s Barrel Racing Horse, Traditional Scale. With overall awards based on gun time, so it is the first six finishers to cross the finish line.

The top 6 finishers in age groups, regardless of gender, each received the Breyer Mahogany Bay Arabian Freedom Series.

Age group awards again was based on chip time (Elapsed time from when runner crosses the starting line mat to when he/she crossed the finish mat).

**********

For me, the runners being grouped together instead of separate male/female age groups was not fair. I know there's an expense involved for awards but Come On!!
I did enjoy seeing the horse patrol,

Ready to shoot....

It's always great to see a runner return back to doing their thing,
there was another team taking pic's and I assumed they were the 'offical' photographers, Lucky me got to be asked to do finish line photos !

I found this etched window glass and thought 🤔what if I can fit the Alltech logo in there....

A portion of proceeds will go to Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement  (www.oldfriendsequine.org)    Founded in 2003 by former Boston Globe film critic Michael Blowen, Old Friends is a Thoroughbred Retirement Facility in Georgetown, KY that now cares for more than 250 horses whose racing and breeding careers came to an end. A “living history museum of horse racing”, the farm attracts nearly 20,000 tourists annually that get up close and personal with such stars of the turf as 1997 Kentucky Derby winner Silver Charm, three-time Santa Anita Handicap victor Game on Dude, Belmont Stakes winners Birdstone, Touch Gold, and Sarava, and one-time Kentucky Derby contender Patch. By promoting these one-time celebrated horses through a campaign of education and tourism, Old Friends aims to draw attention to the need for widespread Thoroughbred aftercare. The farm is open to the public for tours Thursday - Sunday. Reservations are required. Book online at www.oldfriendsequine.org

Blog 365 ~ Sleeping in Saturday

A bit of convo with the 'kid' had me somewhat stumped! I don't feel like she's been herself since her DNF at ShePower. I've said my peace and I'm making a few hard decisions for ME in the coming months AND in 2024...I've even thought of what my 2024 Word for the year is ! How's that for planning ahead !!..!!

I talked about it,

I envisioned,I dreamed,
schedule Made!!

I was so pumped-up still this morning from volunteering yesterday & last night for the Survive the Night relay event. Running friends with Bluegrass Runners Club are nothing short of Amazing!!
