Breathe in...Breate out...Calmer now

OK now that I have had time to take in the idea of my daughter competing in a full marathon...insert a huge gulp with eye roll...I think I'm a little calmer now. I ask myself what else would you rather have her doing??

She's a good kid (even at 34 she's still my baby girl) her own children are growing up...sometimes to quickly it seems...her husband trains with her and also tries to compete in as many as his work schedule allows...she has a network of people for resources if she needs...and of course her absolute #1 Fan/Cheerleader/Historian/meaning moi will be with her every step of the way!! I sometimes tend to be over exorbitant with her accomplishments. One of those times was when the Serres Race was done for the season and she was the ONLY runner that completed the allotted races

Just what was I thinking?

Of course October has come and gone! And it's now the middle of November good golly time flies when your having fun right? Yea Right! The thing is, keeping up with all the other blogs (which are great) time has got away from me. I have just now seen my daughter' recent post to her blog (bobbie087.blogspot.com) and I can now officially say she has not only inherited the crazy gene she has the INSANE one as well!! She and one of her running buddies have now decided to run a full marathon (26.2) next may in Cincinnati. I know that I have been fortunate in raising her, she has made good decisions, is accomplished in her job, and have surrounded herself with a diverse group of friends during her school years and through out her life. But come on 26.2? Is she trying to give me a heart attack? Oh Oh and lets not forget she has also decided to put together a team of runners to compete in the Bourbon Chase next year we are talking about 200 miles people. Don't get me wrong I'm proud of her and all that she has done but as a mom I still fret and worry. Am I the only mom that is so protective of her child? I recently read somewhere that gray hair is "stress" highlights...guess I better call my hair dresser and set up some appointments looks like I'm going to need some color....!

Whats that you say?? Where have I been???

Long time No Blog!! I have been absent for some time now with no real good excuse! Its been awhile since my last blog (July something?) so I will recap as much as possible with bullets--
  • July was filled with 4 weekends of my runner girls 5K races (check out all the recaps "bobbie087.blogspot.com), started the walk program at work though I really had not planned on it a group of women begged me to do it with them..well hell OK ladies..so now I'm a "Donnelley Diva" yea baby!!!!
  • August "5K" races = 2, my Uncle Clyde past away which has had me completely devastated...So much family drama (the B#*@&%S) during this time, a feeder class which had me working (2wks) of 12 hr shifts
  • September "5K' races = 4 one I walked in with the G'daughters Kaylan sprain her ankle at 1.5 mile, another feeder class again 2wks of 12 hrs, the "Donnelley Divas" came in second place of 28 teams that participated, the anniversary of my mothers death, still not sure if I have come to terms with it all...
  • And Now It's OCTOBER!! OMG ! This is only the middle of the month so I will post more later - I gotta tell you 'bout the half marathon the girls ran in Louisville!!

Till then remember,,

What a week!!!

This has been the longest short week I've had in a long time. Still trying to get caught up with everything and as always if it doesn't get done it will still be there tomorrow...HA! It was a steady pace at work so that helped alot. I've been able to come home and try to get this or that done before going on to my "other home". I was able to surprize the kids by showing up when they all met to train this week..there was going to be a 5K race on Saturday in Lancaster,I have the best time watching and listening to all of them..they each have something in common but yet so opposite. There were six of them in all with G'man as one of them...he runs to not only get the excercise but to also be with Bobbie, awwww! (she knows how lucky she is) They get a plan and take off! It was like being in high school again sitting uptown hanging out on the corner watching people go by, man it brought back memories. I figured I had 40-50 minutes before their return. I was talking to my brother when OMG! they're finished already? Well first it was Gerard & Twilla..and I didn't have not 1 drop of water for them! It was sorry Jim gotta go and get some H2O...thank goodness for "Bluegrass Pizza & Pub" Gerard' friend Melissa is the owner so I ordered 6 glasses a didn't care how much it cost had my debit card ready when next thing I know her husband and one of the waiters are serving the water to all the kids across the street..at no charge! Now that's service!! After sitting there resting, talking, laughing and gossiping we all finally leave to go home..it was 10:30pm when I made it. I really appreciate the fact that my daughter has always had the best group of people around her while in school and now as an adult...It may have helped that I was the mean Mom, but fair..and everyone hung out at the house. I have more to catch up on but it's late and I have a trip to get ready for.......

PS-Saturdays race resulted with 1st place trophy' for Bobbie, Katrina and Twilla! Way to go ladies....,

Getting back to normal???

????Whatever Normal Is????? Three day weekends are great but out of the ordinary for me. I'm not one of those people that does a lot of play time relaxing things. I guess I should try and do more. In the mean time I will start with Saturday' happinings. Gerard was able to run a 5K race with Bobbie!! Yay!! Its always a challenge trying to keep up with both and get pics of them during the race, once I figure out how to add pics I will add them of the kids. They both ran a good race with both winning awards in their age groups, Bobbie 2nd - Gerard 3rd. This is a race that they both ran in last year, they also received awards in 2009. Gerard was able to improve his time by 3min Bobbie, well she ran about the same time as last year...?...Humm she said she needed to start working on her speed. My other runner girls, Sheri & Katrina were there and also did well, Twilla was on the road coming back from vacation..Once again as the MOM, I can't wait for all the girls to be back together. Afterwards it was Cracker Barrel time with the kids recapping about the race and gossip in general, Gerard knows the other girls and their husbands so there was plenty to listen too. Then off to Walmart (OMG!) to get all the supplies needed for the July 4th cook out I was doing. I had my list I did my best to stay focused on the task at hand then out of the blue I hear "Mommaw Ruby...I see you"! Well as most know when you hear your childs voice you know who it is well the same goes for grand kids. And there he was at the other end of the aisle my little man Baron..hugs kisses and more hugs his request for chicken legs on the 4th, talked about him swimming in the pool and tha his mommy was working after 15 minutes or so they were off as was I. Of course around every turn I could see him again..and I Love It!! A loaded cart later I headed to the house to unload and organize things for a smooth operation on the next day. Off now to see my man of almost 6 years now!!WOW-working on a record! Morning of the cookout Steve made breakfast - oatmeal and the fixin's, lounge around read the paper then back to my house to start prepping for the cook out, menu included any special item requested...what we mom's do for kids. There is a new gas grill that was maybe used one time while my mother was still living so I was unaware that we did not own any grilling utensils, so it was off to the store for Carl, Bless his heart. Steve comes over just in time to see me headed out with the meat products to start cooking...he's in awe as to my ability to grill..he does all of the grilling at his house...but as I get started and being the great man he is he just takes in all the activity on the grill and this woman manning the spatula, long fork, and tongs!! Everyone starts showing up as I am getting the last of the meat cooked. Then its on to the eating. All in all everyone had a good time, including my 2 younger grandkids. Belated b'day cake from BaskinRobbins for Gerard, more quality time together something we don't get to do very often. Everyone comes up with a plan on going to watch the local fire works, as they are leaving I think to myself.........

It's great to be MOM!

Birthday Wishes

Today is the Day!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my son-in-law Gerard...he has been in the family going on 18 yrs now!! He truly Loves my daughter and their two daughters. He works hard and plays hard as well. Though he works most of the Sat. mornings when Bobbie has races he does try to compete as well. They have a race coming up in Liberty, Ky a race that they both won awards within their age groups last year. Since they already know the course and have been keeping up with training I expect them to do well. I'm hoping all the rest of the group is there as well.
As I had posted a few days ago I'm in a walk team at work with some of my other "girls" and this week I'm a little behind on my steps, just over 60,000 for me thus far so I need to get a move on....until later remember this

It's all good

Busy as always! But going to take some time to express myself. One of my runner "girls" has also started blogging and on her very first blog who does she mention? O M G ! Lil 'ole me..AND referred to as "Mama Ruby" ! I consider this another tremendous accomplishment. Why? Well as the biological mom to only one daughter I have always tried to be the mom that all the kids wanted to come too. (sometimes though its been a challenge) Along life's adventure I have acquired other daughters and God love 'em I would truly do anything I can for them, my love for them will always be as unconditional as with my own. Bobbie ran a few miles with Sheri before going on a short vacation trip with her family.
So that means I'm the keeper of the boys while they are gone. The boys are 2 Rotties - Brewser J & Zeus. I was all set on going tonight to feed and play with them but low and behold the kids are back - really short trip! So this means that Bobbie should be able to get some easy leg work in, and work on her blog as well... I will be checking on her status tomorrow, for now I will close as I need to get some leg work in myself (walking that is). Some of my girls and I at work are in a walk group and so far though we are not # 1 in the team status we're not last either. For now I will sign off here's hoping everyone has a great night and day tomorrow! For everyone else check out these blogs - "bobbie087.blogspot.com" & "sherirunningthroughlife.blogspot.com".

My 1st post

Here it is, another day of getting up early to do what you might ask? Well I'm a runners Mom!! My daughter started this 5K running thing last year after competing (she walked) in a local festival walk/run event. She along with co-workers completed the walk and for some unforeseen reason was taken in by those who ran ! Well alrighty then..but when she told me about her accomplishment of course being the Mom I am I told her "if I had known I would have been there!" As the late Paul Harvey would say "And the rest is history". There have been many races and rewards as well...With this being my fist blog I will go back to my pictorial records and attempt a historical saga of my runner daughter along with friends she has made and her accomplishments. I tell her though no matter what just for getting out there your a winner----but then of course as a biased bystander she will always be my winner!!
