Blog 365 ~ Dom and Dave 5K ReCap

Started the morning with hubby's oatmeal breakfast...Yum! Off to church as today was our Sunday to be greeters...this will be something he might be doing on his own soon as I plan on changing churches by the end of May, the hub's have more obligations to fulfill than I do so he will change much later, IF he wants.

Today was race day! Yes, they're normally on Saturday {early:thirtyAM] mornings.

I missed last year's Inaugural Dom & Dave 5K so was excited to be a part of it this year....

So Much Support in Remembrance for the 2 boys...

Over 900 family, friends, and community members showed their love and support for our boys last year; and for that, we are forever grateful. In 2022 total raised was over $45,000 to go towards a scholarship fund in Dom & Dave honor.

2023 attendance numbers were down a bit with just over 500 crossing the finish line...that however didn't stop the sponsors & donations. Just over another 40,000$$ was raised ! If I haven't mentioned it before I'm so amazed at how Giving the Running community is. And yet another reason I do what I do volunteering my time to document them as they cross the finish line.

A Fun Run was added this year for kids 10 and under and prize opportunities for the fastest teams, seeing everyone again for a fantastic day of running and camaraderie is the perfect way to honor the lives Dom & Dave.

100% of the race proceeds will go to The Dominic Bilotta Memorial Foundation, Inc. which will be used to provide scholarship opportunities in the names of both Dominic and David.
Dom & Dave --- By our side with every stride!
Dominic Bilotta and David Cervoni were cross country runners for Lexington Catholic High School. They were both gifted athletes who loved the competition and camaraderie of running.
The boys’ warm smiles and kind hearts are greatly missed.

The weather was sketchy...there was an Abundance of Sunshine until there wasn't. Then there was light rain...then medium rain....then a Hard Rain followed by HIGH WINDS !

 Yep It was coming down!!

My race Pal Camden was more creative by seeking shelter....

Under the table...

rain or not the race & runners continued on...

luckily the DJ had his pop-up still intact and was close to the course,

I hung out with him until everyone finished....
