Blog 365 ~ a Hiking I did Go...Finally!

I Went HIKING! Finally, I was able to get back with my Casey County Explorer's hiking group. It's been Sooo, Many weeks since I've went because of Chamber business, dealing with the hub's bank, and weather But I Finally went... Go Me!

This morning's temps were a bit chilly when I got dressed, so I added a layer for JIC. I had my coffee, made the bed, swept the floors, ate some toast & cereal grabbed my hiking boots & backpack and off I went to meet the 'local' hiking crew to carpool to the meet-up.

Gal Pal Margaret talked another hiker into joining us who lives close by. Loaded up and Off we went . I do want to say anytime I can, I ride in the back seat....I don't want to be navigator, and not that I'm anti-social [ Umm Hello! ] but I can listen to whatever is going on with front seat conversation. If I'm asked a question I answer, If I'm asked my opinion I answer. I use the time to get a bit of 'work' done on my phone, and text updates to whoever. By the time we stopped for a bathroom break it was really warm out, so I removed a layer in the car...the other Gal's don't do that BTW. Oops!

Every..Single..Time..we travel to hike or anywhere else for that matter we always end up doing a U-turn because of missing a direction. So after a couple, [yes a couple] of U-turns we finally ended up at our destination.
John B Stephenson Memorial Forest
near Berea, Ky. We were meeting the rest of the group at the Anglin Falls Trailhead.
We took the 'Orange' Eagle Trail it wasn't to difficult, and had so many beautiful wildflowers along the trail...

Kim took this photo of me standing near the edge of  the rock...

I thoroughly enjoyed   using Natures Stairs....

Oh Yes I did in fact Climb Up these Rock/Boulders...

it was the only way to get to the top and see the waterfall...
it was a challenge for sure but I made it!

I love the way Wildflowers can grow out of & from anywhere...
and I do use my imagination thinking Woodland Fairies live in the tree Trunks...I can see it, can't you??

more gorgeous wildflowers

And What a Fabulous Find coming out of the trail...
Christmas WILL be here in 251 days...🎄 #jusSayin 🎄

Off to local GOP meeting so signing out.
Hope everyone has a wonderful evening.

2/4/18 Busy week ahead + Super Bowl Sunday means prep + Laura

Well look at me getting another blog post out!!  Let's just say that even with all of Life's challenges I've learned the one main key is Planning/Organizing/Follow Through...OK that's three things....and Not necessarily in that order.

But there they are, last week's events  Slapped me along the Head and got my attention and it wasn't  even MY event. It was for the MR  [he's deserving of his on post and will do that later this week}....

But back to me, I try to lead a Active & Full life, this year though sometimes it happened most times it didn't...not sure what was going on with me -- thinking it was a combination of things all jumbled together inside without a way to get out...Whatever it was it's gone now thank Goodness. How it happened is anyone's guess but one thing for certain is this Chick has got her Groove back and a few more Hats to wear.

Along with  MR event and leading up to and the hectic days since, I managed to stand still long enough to think about my friend Laura....She Too has many-MANY Hats to wear.

Seeing her at the Race Director's Symposium yesterday was Just What I Needed....after she reviewed her presentation we were able to talk for a few minutes and get caught up on a few things, but most importantly I wanted her to know "She" was the person I thought of when I was in the middle of a challenge brought on from the MR's event....yet another job to do [and I'm glad to do it], something that I need to get educated on and Quick!

Something that made me realize my Active & Full Life just wasn't~I wasn't Planning anymore...I wasn't Organizing things and I sure as Crap wasn't Following Through. But I know all that is behind me...I've managed to recoup and get my Crap together....

So Laura Coombs this post is for you and all the hats we wear!

Accountability--Starting with yesterday--Friendship counts no matter how small....

Soo I'm doing it again...going to put the Big (really big) Girl Panties On and Just do IT!! More so for the fact that I made A Runners Mom & More FB page Public....Yes you are reading it right, it's live & open to the Public. I'm ready to become more of what I preach be Accountable!! Now keep in mind since I'm M~O~R~E than a runners mom there will be All sorts of junk  stuff here for your reading pleasure. I will report on the running adventures that my daughter is doing which as everyone knows is My one Greatest Achievement in life!  I tag along with her (she lets me) and her Best running Buddies....with David as her Very Bestest BRF.
But lets start with today...up earlier than normal I was scheduled to do my MOPS thing. It's a Mom's group that gets together once a month at a local church, I'm what's called a MOPPET.

We are basically a Baby Sitter for the kids... as you can see from the first few sentences ''the moms need to take time to refresh themselves'' and '' because of Me us they can truly relax....really people?? refresh yourself & relax....I'm good with that but it's another one of those things that boggle my mind about parenting these days.
Now don't take all this the wrong way [but if you do get over it] I went to work to ''refresh'' myself and to ''relax'' from the parenting thing...my house wasn't cleaned every day because I appreciated my child {I'm positive they do as well}when I finished with my day/week at Work I spent my time with her...of  course I had parents that wanted to come and whisk her off for the weekend...and I let them sometimes, but she was mine....my baby girl, my daughter who from the minute she took her first breath I became a whole other person....a Mom.
So Much for the bandwagon...
I now have grandkids who are old enough to make me a 'Great' grandmother...do I want that? I can wait, when and IF it happens I'll do you best I can at being Great...in the meantime what little ITCH there is at wanting another baby to hold and cuddle, to play on slides & swings, to play tea with or trains & trucks or cars I'll just be a MOPPET.
Last year I was with 3-4 yr olds they were for the most part OK to watch a little needy but all in all OK...This year I have 1-2yr olds...OMG....I question my sanity sometimes...but will never question being a friend and helping where I can when I can.

My Happy New Year!

Here we go with yet another New Year and I've spent it with the MR sick (as in still from Christmas) this makes 2 years in a row...and this year there's and Different Ball drop?? WTH? Yes there was a ball but it was dwarfed by the Huge Clock doing a countdown...You can check it out here ok so this is a change I wasn't expecting oh well I just gotta let it go, gave the MR some meds, tuck him in and pop the Bubbly..(being the BAD Blogger I forgot to take a Pic).....that's right it's New Years and I still celebrated even if it's just me on the couch watching a pitiful looking dwarfed ball drop, Awww MIDNIGHT!! I call all my kids, grand kids & the Papaw wish them Happy New Year. Time to move on to a New Year, New Month, New Day...I GOT THIS!!

Today was spent with my runner daughter and some friends at a Brand New Race opportunity in Historic Midway Ky. What a turn out it was...compared to the Resolution 5Mile Run yesterday this is Amazing..300+ runners & walkers attended the Frozen Rails 5K.

And of all things we had a train come through Just Before The Race...good omen?? for the New Year?? I say Yes! My new friend Laura Coombs was there and got everyone ready with some warm up exercises then it was 5K time....I videoed the race start due to---again 300+ Runners/Walkers...you can find finish line photos here, here, and here.  All in all it was a Great Day the start of a New Year.

More to come stay tuned,

Not a Slacker!!

OK folks I know it's been like forever since my last post, and as always the fine line between life's balances still are a struggle. The bullets will give you all an outline of things -not in order- that have been going on, so that you know I haven't been a slacker,
  • a nephew has found me after 30+ years, (it's been about that long since I last seen him-Long story as to why too come) corresponding through FB at this point,
  • work, plus some OT, take it when I can,
  • engagement picture photo shoot for my friends Rhonda and Trinadad, sooo much fun and the pictures were good considering I do mainly 'action' sport photos,
  • the H2B and I had our own engagement pictures taken, this was a surprise for me, and now it's time to write up our announcement and get it to the paper,
  • finalized on the balance of the 'little things' that always sneaks up on you when planning a wedding, even a small one like we're having,
  • the ceiling guy finally made it (some our fault some his) to repair and patch all the ceilings in  order to paint before we get married,
  • my grand-son was Baptized, not that this took up a lot of time but it was exciting to be a part of and also witness,
  • took care of the grand-cats and the grand-dog while the kids were on vacation, this meant morning and night trips to their house, not that they live that far away from me but it's a new routine,
  • H2B had suit shopping on his list of things to do for the wedding, fun to say the least and can't wait to tell you about the socks,  freakin' hilarious,
  • Automate 30year anniversary photo shoot, this is where my SIL has worked for about 14 years,
  • we went to a local play at Pioneer Playhouse and took the MIL2B as well-such an historic and awesome place,
  • H2B has painted the ceilings-I supervised H2B calls it 'straw bossed' where ever that termed come from I have no clue, yes walls and trim will be painted too, bye bye ex-wife colors,
  • I did another photo shoot of my two oldest grand-daughters, really pleased with the pictures
  • wedding photographer for Rhonda & Trinidad-from mani's & pedi's to the cutting of the cake,
  • 1 golf scramble photo shoot benefiting Holly's House, oh yeah, I don't know squat about golf!
  • Six races, that's right "6"! Beef Festival 5K, Brass Band 5K, Capital City Stampede 10K, Twinkie Run 10K, Holly's House 5K, Firecracker 5K, and a partridge in a pear tree (you know you just sang that)
  • on top of all these things I've taken on providing pictures for Hope53 Ministries softball league. One of my runner kids-Ricky- is VP of this non-profit organization more about it later,
  • And let's not forget all the necessary day to day activities, you know laundry, meal prep, meal shopping, cleaning, etc. etc. etc.
So here it is in a nut shell---I 'm not a Slacker!!

3-23-13 Carol Short~Butterscotch Pie 5K

Yesterday's race was not a planned/scheduled run but in the running community everyone tries to share and pass along whatever 'goodies' there happens to be. Bobbie was offered a free entry to the Butterscoth Pie 5k in Harrodsburg, big thanks goes out the Sheri for thinking of my baby.
It was tough for her to run though,

she has come down with the sinus/cold junk that is going around, and before Anyone thinks I give it to her, well your Wrong. She happens to work with the public, she may as well be in preschool with all the germs that comes through the office handling paperwork and money..good Lord ....Yuck!
Being the trooper that she is, (plus the free t-shirt) she calls to let me know we're running Sat. and you all know my response is~OK what time!!

It was surprising to see all the people there, it was cold!

You could tell that 'Carol Short' was a much loved person. Friends and family filled the church along with food items to be auctioned off. I witnessed a Butterscotch pie bring in $125.00, 1 pie people, just 1pie.

From the obituary I found online Carol was only 60 when she past away, prime of your life age. She graduated from Harrodsburg High school in 1970 and was a former employee of Cricketer Mfg. Co. and also worked at a local restaurant called 'Aunt Gravy's'.At her church she was 1st Lady of the Centennial Baptist Church, a leader of the Women's Fellowship, and also on the Usher Board.
Carol I regret that we never met, rest assured that your memory lives on in your community. As you are looking over your family and friends I hope you take the time to keep a watchful eye on all my 'runner' kids as well  here are just a few of them.....
