I worked the Kicking Butt 5K in Louisville last Saturday. Though it was a long drive I love this event! Everyone is so Welcoming and Appreciative, they announced at the end of the race to have raised just over 36,000$ for colon cancer research.

** Looking forward to this week **
-->Family night Football game for nephew...he received this note from the HS coach
He's worked hard this year,
only 3 of the 8th graders got a personal note like this one.
I'm a very Proud Aunt! And extremely proud of his brother Eli who is into Computer/Electronic/Robotics....
-->Pastor Briscoe's pastoral anniversary dinner
-->MahJong with a few of the Tribe,
-->Friends dinner out on Wednesday

** From the camera **
My black cat-feral 'Queen' girl has decided to socialize again. For the past few months, she's hung out in the bathroom, and on a stool in the kitchen. So finding her cuddled up with the Goober was a nice surprise.

** On my prayer list **
My SIL started her cancer treatments last week. So far she's hasn't had any adverse reactions, Thank God! Also, for my friend MJ...her husband is settled [finally] in a nursing home specializing with Alz/Dementia. He's been diagnosed with 3 types. I wasn't aware you could have more than 1, so I've learned quite a lot from her & his ordeal since this all started back in April. Her advocate has had meetings with family and close friends to inform them what to do/expect/ and to tell everyone it's for this stage and beyond it's better not to visit as he won't remember anyway 😧, and to remember him from the better time of his life. My heart is sad for MJ....and for myself. We talk All the time and have comfort knowing he's where he should be.

** Devotional **
Father, I don't know why you allow certain things/tragedies to happen. Help me stop trying to answer the unanswerable and to focus instead on how I respond in the mist of such things/tragedies.

Blog 365 ~ Sunday Sermon ~ HRC catch-up

And Good Sound Sleep which is what I got last night!
Today is the start of a brand-new week with lots of 'stuff' to get done...AND...the last week of September 😲 ! Shoot Fire where has it gone?? But again I'm so ready for the cooler temps to get here.

Coffee & Comics with my sweet boy JinX...he's been a bit clingy lately so more cuddles later today will be happening.

The Children's Choir was so good this morning for church...

And of course, Dr. Briscoe did another wonderful sermon as well.
Joshua 1:10-18 if you're interested, he always does his own little 'spin' while preaching the 'Word' of God. He calls it Briscoe'rized !

After church I had a Human Rights meet-up with the Chairwoman.
We met at DQ, had lunch, talked business, then Ice Cream....

Then off to Mac's. Her daughter & DIL just got home from Charleston and brought me a gift. While there she showed me some of her newest creations.

She does fused glass and has been busy! I have a catch-up post [imagine that😜] about her meeting with the hub's regarding selling her talents where he works...
I'm so excited for her !
This creation will be a long dish that you can put cheese & crackers, or cookies or anything else you want. The design is raised so you can feel the detail in it.

**********
I'm pleased to say I've at least been able to get this post up from MY OFFICE! #goMe I've made a dent in getting it cleaned up & cleaned out & hubby bought me a new fancy plush executive chair that slides under the desk. I'm still undecided if I'll change out shelves or not. The Kid has a couple shelves she wants to get rid of, but geez-o-pete, it's going to be an All-Day job/adventure switching everything out and right now, I just don't have the time to do it....so we'll see.

Tomorrow is Happy Homemaker Monday [I missed last week] with lots on the to-do-list!

Until then.....Be Safe & Blessed!

Blog 365 ~ Kicking Butt....5K re-cap ~ Extended Family

O...M...4EARLY:THIRTY morning since I'm traveling over an hour for this mornings 5K. But it was so good to see the organizers from the race. They were welcoming  & appreciative last year when I was there I had to go back this year.

This year's theme is GET BEHIND IT! for this year's Colon Cancer Prevention Project.

This year the race was in honor of Meredith Potthast, her husband [middle-forgot his name] gave us a emotional, moving history lesson from when wife Meredith, was finally diagnosed - throughout her treatment & non-treatments, until her untimely death at the young age of 28. Most people associate Colon Cancer as a 'old' persons disease. So if your a reader, get tested!

Petting zoo & Adopt a pet was there again this year....the Bridge crosses over into the city of Louisville or into Indiana....

Of course there's always a Kids Dash race....they were FAST!

They all got a medal, and they were all as excited as this little guy.

Before this race we did a group 'Survivor' photo.

This year instead of being at the finish line,

I went further out on the course

and got shots of the runners

with the bridge in

the background. There was another photographer there taking finish line photos.

85 yrs Strong is my friend Carol...she's so amazing.

Best Dressed dog!!

310 5K'rs crossed the finish line...as of today they have raised 36,000$ dollars for Colon Cancer research.

**********
After resting for a bit, I went with the hubby to his 'family reunion' in Casey County. It was a last-minute thing he decided to do and wasn't able to get someone to help cover his work shift so of course we were late getting there. This was family on his mother's side and family he hasn't seen in probably 50'ish years?? Now all of a sudden, he's decided to become the patriarch of the family[?] and start being in touch will everyone. Which don't get me wrong is OK but give a gal more warning next time...Geesh! Since I was new to those still there, I didn't take any pic's. Apparently there will be another gathering of family on Memorial Day 2024 and we'll be attending then, so maybe I'll offer to do some for everyone.

The hubby stopped and for spag dinner from Fazoli's [remember we were late for reunion food] and sprung for dessert as well, so eating, watch a bit of TV, then headed to read a bit before bed--it's been a Looong Day.

Blog 365 ~ Friday Favorites

Spending the morning keeping these two curious Cats out of my cabinet....
Goober & my boy JinX
They're on the onery side today !

Went to friends Coffee earlier than normal, it was good to do a one-on-one time away from home[s] and before everyone else got there with my Gal Pal Mac.....

I went early due to taking Hank Jr. [Hub's truck] to get new tires.
'Ol Hank Jr was bought in 2004 just before the hub's and I started dating officially. Our 'story' is very much different from most...and it's long. Now I didn't know he bought the truck to try and impress me. One of my friends that worked on his production line and told me later. I'm not that person. I could care less what you drive, or what house you live in, where you live, etc.
MY story regarding all these things is long as well.
Hank Jr has done it all, we've moved several people, so much mulch, dirt, rock hauled over the years, taken a couple of 'short' trips, and just turned 100,000 miles. As taught by both our parents we've kept Hank Jr maintained with spring tune ups and getting winterized every year. This is the second time he has gotten new tires and will be the last time from us. Yep, in about 2'ish years he will be 'gifted' to our little Buddy Gauge. Gauge has renamed him to 'Danger Ranger' and wants to do some restoration while learning to drive a stick shift.
Until then, new 'kicks' for our Hank Jr....I still have lots of projects to use him for.
And If your wondering yes there was a 'Hank' Sr, he was red !

Later this afternoon I was able to get a smallish walk in,
And we finally have fall leaves falling. It's exciting to have cooler temps...so instead of mowing the grass I'll be blowing leaves.

Blog 365 ~ ARTrageously Rageous!

The hubby and I got a little gussied up and went to a 'new' production...

ARTrageous was to say at the VERY least Different...!

Lots of 'Oldies' but Goodies music while waiting for the show set the pace of the upcoming production. Read more about ARTrageous here--> https://www.artrageousshow.com/about-the-show

finger lights, much safer than lighters in the air
[like the 'old'days]

Engaging the audience in singing a John Lennon song white his portrait was being done.

It was different,
It was enjoyable,
I Loved how they interacted with the audience, especially the little kids.

If you ever get a chance, go see it in person. Highly recommend.
