Blog 365 ~ Kicking Butt....5K re-cap ~ Extended Family

O...M...4EARLY:THIRTY morning since I'm traveling over an hour for this mornings 5K. But it was so good to see the organizers from the race. They were welcoming  & appreciative last year when I was there I had to go back this year.

This year's theme is GET BEHIND IT! for this year's Colon Cancer Prevention Project.

This year the race was in honor of Meredith Potthast, her husband [middle-forgot his name] gave us a emotional, moving history lesson from when wife Meredith, was finally diagnosed - throughout her treatment & non-treatments, until her untimely death at the young age of 28. Most people associate Colon Cancer as a 'old' persons disease. So if your a reader, get tested!

Petting zoo & Adopt a pet was there again this year....the Bridge crosses over into the city of Louisville or into Indiana....

Of course there's always a Kids Dash race....they were FAST!

They all got a medal, and they were all as excited as this little guy.

Before this race we did a group 'Survivor' photo.

This year instead of being at the finish line,

I went further out on the course

and got shots of the runners

with the bridge in

the background. There was another photographer there taking finish line photos.

85 yrs Strong is my friend Carol...she's so amazing.

Best Dressed dog!!

310 5K'rs crossed the finish line...as of today they have raised 36,000$ dollars for Colon Cancer research.

After resting for a bit, I went with the hubby to his 'family reunion' in Casey County. It was a last-minute thing he decided to do and wasn't able to get someone to help cover his work shift so of course we were late getting there. This was family on his mother's side and family he hasn't seen in probably 50'ish years?? Now all of a sudden, he's decided to become the patriarch of the family[?] and start being in touch will everyone. Which don't get me wrong is OK but give a gal more warning next time...Geesh! Since I was new to those still there, I didn't take any pic's. Apparently there will be another gathering of family on Memorial Day 2024 and we'll be attending then, so maybe I'll offer to do some for everyone.

The hubby stopped and for spag dinner from Fazoli's [remember we were late for reunion food] and sprung for dessert as well, so eating, watch a bit of TV, then headed to read a bit before bed--it's been a Looong Day.
