Daunting Days! But I'm still a winner!

Life is stressful, well mine seems to be at times. I'm trying to fit it all in with little luck thus far, but, I'm making it through another day and will adjust to my time struggles. I know that I need to be willing to make decisions on what is the most important thing for me.

One important thing for me has been being able to attend my "grandsons" basketball games. My 'one and Only' male grand child and he's AWESOME! It makes me well up in tears every time he comes running to get hugs and kisses from me. I Just Love this kid!! He says he doesn't want to do basketball next year, but does want to play soccer and do Cross Country we'll see, you know how kids can be, either way if at all possible the Mommaw will be there.

My work life has become hectic to say the least, some weeks are 50+ hours some are only 37.5 hours. When I do get the OT it's several days in a row and can sometimes last consecutive weeks in a row. It's great to have a job in this economy and my extra hours are my fault, (I ask for them) so whats the answer? Broke or some extra moolah?

I have arranged my breaks in order to try and get my steps in during the day which has work to some degree but there's the whole sit down and take a break thing that's not happening and with my job being sorta physical it gets tiring. Missed several home work-outs this week (as in walking on the treadmill), my fault, wanted to spend the time with H2B while he was off.

My runner kids are in training mode and haven't done many races this year, 1 in January that I still need to post about which will be this week and another coming up next weekend.

#12 catch up post~5-5-12 Haggin 5K

     This is a fun race that the kids like to do in part due to there are stuffed animals all along the course. The runners try and find one and carry it while they complete the 5K. Doesn't sound hard to do you say?!? Well it's normally soaked through from the rain and that adds a lot of extra weight and added aggravation. Those that have a animal get an 'extra' prize which are donated from area merchants. Now for some pics..............

All the 'Swag' my young'un received today,

     As in the first photo it ALWAYS rains or has rained during the Haggin 5K. I have photos (somewhere) of the races that Bobbie have run and in them is one picture in particular that shows the runners coming off the start line and a streak of Lightning bolting down behind them. Poor Rick(Serres) had a fleeting moment to try and stop the race~but in the time it took him to think it they were already well on their way. So there we all were, with umbrellas and standing under the trees trying to stay as dry as possible. Now I know your thinking 'dummy' why not just go to the shelter where it was dry. The way I see it if all these runners can run in the rain (or whatever elements going on) then I can stand at the finish and wait on them........because you know what?

I'm a runners mom~that's what I do!!!

#9 catch up post 4-14-12 Autism 5K

Talking with Jenna and her Mom Jennifer, these ladies have been at a lot of the races this year that Bobbie has done and other than the 'Hey How are You's' today they're comparing who all they know that also runs, comparing finish times, which races are the favorites, and Lord only knows what else! Like I said before the 'runner' group knows No stranger.

     1st up 'KSD 5K Fun Run' February 2012...this right FEBRUARY!! And though it's not snowing, it had been raining and was still misting rain before and during the race. Yea that's right rain and cold!! But as mom of a runner there I am!

    

      I orginally started out dog sitting for one of the runners but when the race was getting ready to start I asked my H2B (husband 2 be) to hold the leash as I wanted to snap a few of the beginning, no problem right? He's with me and Bobbie, everyone has seen us right?

    

     Nope the dog thing didn't happen she got really excited with all the runners and then her master went by as well-not a good thing. So she ended up with one of the walkers who is also their friend.

 

     H2B even stayed awhile for the awards then went home to thaw out-such a trouper he is-That's it for this post the season had started once again!!

My Crazy Girl...

Soooo.. my 5K, half-marathon, rain, thunder storm, gale force wind, snow, ice, heat stroke temps, runner daughter (in the blue) is now competing in virtual races ?!? WTH...like where did this competitiveness come from?? As she N*E*V*E*R participated in any extra curricular activities when she was in school...this is a side of her that only has come out since 2009 (she and her co-workers competed in a 5K race during a local festival)...and started running the following weekend!!!
Now granted she has made a lot of friends while running and one of my 'runner daughters' Sheri (in the white) has become one of her Bestie's - though there's some peer pressure-hence the virtual runs (who does that?).
As a child I was fortunate that she had-chose?-really good friends to be in her life as well as allowing me to be a part of theirs..being the 'cool' mom, the one that they could and would come too when ever they needed to, and now in her adult life she still has a group of Bestie's that any Mother would be proud of having in their life - again - the ladies have included me in their lives being witness to goals met, children's accomplishments, work, husbands....well just life in general.
So virtual or not my 5K,half-marathon, rain, thunder storm, gale force wind, snow, ice heat stroke temps runner daughter(s)are the best daughters any 'runnersmom' could have.!

Oh yeah guess who is the cheerleader, picture taking historian all the while there is a 5K,half-marathon, rain, thunder storm, gale force wind, snow,ice, and heat stroke temps...that's right 'arunnersmom'!!

Whats that you say?? Where have I been???

Long time No Blog!! I have been absent for some time now with no real good excuse! Its been awhile since my last blog (July something?) so I will recap as much as possible with bullets--

• July was filled with 4 weekends of my runner girls 5K races (check out all the recaps "bobbie087.blogspot.com), started the walk program at work though I really had not planned on it a group of women begged me to do it with them..well hell OK ladies..so now I'm a "Donnelley Diva" yea baby!!!!
• August "5K" races = 2, my Uncle Clyde past away which has had me completely devastated...So much family drama (the B#*@&%S) during this time, a feeder class which had me working (2wks) of 12 hr shifts
• September "5K' races = 4 one I walked in with the G'daughters Kaylan sprain her ankle at 1.5 mile, another feeder class again 2wks of 12 hrs, the "Donnelley Divas" came in second place of 28 teams that participated, the anniversary of my mothers death, still not sure if I have come to terms with it all...
• And Now It's OCTOBER!! OMG ! This is only the middle of the month so I will post more later - I gotta tell you 'bout the half marathon the girls ran in Louisville!!

My 1st post

Here it is, another day of getting up early to do what you might ask? Well I'm a runners Mom!! My daughter started this 5K running thing last year after competing (she walked) in a local festival walk/run event. She along with co-workers completed the walk and for some unforeseen reason was taken in by those who ran ! Well alrighty then..but when she told me about her accomplishment of course being the Mom I am I told her "if I had known I would have been there!" As the late Paul Harvey would say "And the rest is history". There have been many races and rewards as well...With this being my fist blog I will go back to my pictorial records and attempt a historical saga of my runner daughter along with friends she has made and her accomplishments. I tell her though no matter what just for getting out there your a winner----but then of course as a biased bystander she will always be my winner!!
