2017 New Year, New Month, New Day = NEW ME!!

Tap, Tap, Tap.....anybody out there?? Here I go again, starting over isn't hard to do its the keeping on that I struggle with. No MORE!! I've got to get better at ME!  My word for the 2017 New Year is this

I've had a lot of stuff going on in 2016 and plan on more stuff (constructive) in this brand New Year. There are so many blogs and self-help site designed for improving ones self, but guess what
"I" know what I want to do,
"I" know how to do it,
"I" just need to GET WITH "IT"!

First things first, I ended 2016 with of course a race with the Young'un...the Resolution 5K typically is on Jan 1st but this year the Timers (3WR) changed it up and did the race on the EVE of the New Year. We got to the venue/race hotel and was quite surprised there really wasn't much of a crowd, Hmmm this typically is a Big race event as it starts the Race Running Season...and I'm wondering where are all the runners?? 'Cause you know runners run Regardless of the weather!!
From previous events with the Timers I again reached out for the possibility of doing their race photography......well after several weeks of NO response I ended up signing the Kid so she could keep her streak going as this is her 5th year (I think) running it. Though I had fully intended on taking pictures of the runners when we were getting ready to head for the Start line one of the timers 'informed' me to just send a Link when I have the pics loaded and they would post them.  Yea well with that remark I'm thinking if the pics aren't worth the entry price for the kid, your probably not going to get any, as it was so cold with wind blowing that was EXACTLY what happened.. ..I waited for 'my' runner kids to start and then went inside where oh yes it was warmer & toastier. I walked the hotel taking pics of the various decorations and made it back out side just in time to see my Baby coming up the hill to the start line. Snapped a couple of pics waited for her to come to me, shooed her on into the hotel and I waited for my other runners to finish then I went back in where it was warm...
138 Runners competed in a race that past history had 300+, Champagne Flutes to all the finishers Mimosas for those over 21 and awards were 3WR planners...don't judge...it was something.

Happy New Year! Here's to a New Month starting tomorrow, a New Day and to a New ME!

It's rare to have a pic taken of the two of us together at a race,
I always pin Bobbie' race bib it's one of our rituals,
the other is just before she goes to the start line
I give her 3 kisses on her right cheek,
 tell her 'good luck'
and to be 'Careful'

Love the Mallard's at the park

yet another runner 'girl' Carmen

my girls are off ~ lookin all Happy now we'll see how they are in 13.1 miles!!

Yea! got to see my niece Jessica as well! Didn't know she signed up for this!?!

Not so Happy lookin now, still waiting on Sarah

Jason already came through and as always goes to find his wife and runner 'daughter' Angela!

re-fueling after the race chocolate milk was provided after the race

Bless her Heart! She was having a difficult time getting her compression socks on,
and I was No Help either (yes I was laughing while she struggled!)

Bobbie was so wanting a sub 2:00, but not this time around. I continue to be a Proud Momma though! She still amazes me every time she steps foot on the race course. As for Sarah (thought I forgot didn't you) well she was about 5-6 miles in and twisted her ankle on the side of the race course so she ended up being picked up by the EMT's and taken back to her car after treatment. Unfortunately I completely zoned out and didn't think about Courtney again, but please go to her blog and check her out as well, @http://3xacharmrunner.blogspot.com.

1st race of the year - many, many more to come...

Today's race was at Lexington listed as the Heart and Sole 5K..as this is the first race of the season it will set the tone for the rest of the year...only to a point though. Bobbie and Sheri have been training for their up coming 26.2 which include 'scheduled' runs outside or on the dreadmill (?)..this term is too funny! I'm sure the rest of the girls have kept up with as much running as they could also.

Here is the traditional before pic - left to right in the back is Angie Bechtel, Katrina Alexander, and Sheri Satterly in front left to right is my daughter Bobbie Perkins and the newest addition 'runner daughter' Melinda Wofford.

Getting the bib numbers with potty time, last warm up in the truck it was time to head for the start line. Me bundling up as much as I could..more prepared this year than last..tights under jeans, T-shirt under sweat shirt under winter (long coat), ear muffs, scarf, gloves yeah baby!! TOASTY!! Kisses - Love you's - Be carefuls and Good Luck to everyone..,not sure what the newbie runner girl thought 'bout all the ritual but being that I didn't give her a choice or the chance to get away from me, Melinda sweetie your part of the group now so go with it - I'm not stopping the tradition..here are line up pics of the girls. Can you tell it was cold !?! Sheri ended up getting 3rd in her age group, Katrina won a door prize (T-shirt, hey better than nothing-we'll take it). Bobbie ran 3 minutes faster than last year at this same race, which she was really pleased with.

Afterwards it was off to eat..., of course!! Today since we were closer to a Denny's that is where we ended up at...still good, but not Cracker Barrel. Home again with everyone winding down waiting for showers and much deserved naps.
And so it begins - my runner daughters and racing....but that's OK with me 'cause I'm 'arunnersmom' and that's what I do!!
