Started my birthday with a the first of MANY obligations today...

The 2nd annual race raising funds for the homeless of Lexington while

celebrating the life of Brandon True

New Life Day Center --- Our Race Charity Beneficiary

New Life Day Center is a daytime homeless shelter and connecting point. They first serve as a daytime shelter to get homeless persons out of the weather and off the streets. The focus at NLDC is to care for basic needs, be a connecting point to local resources such as medical care and housing assistance, and to provide a faith community that points people to Jesus. By building relationships and providing personalized assistance, they empower the community to make a positive impact in getting individuals off the streets. By participating in the inaugural Brandon True Memorial Heroes for the Homeless 5K Race, runners/sponsors will be directly impacting the homeless in our local community. It is no surprise that running a safe daytime refuge is costly, but we know the impact is far greater than the effort involved. Together, we can spread hope, change lives, and make a lasting impact in the lives of the most vulnerable in Lexington. We are one step closer to changing the landscape of homelessness in our community.

Finished with the morning race event and decided Not to waste gas or time so headed to next event which was on the way home....I knew I was going to be Waaay early so stopped and picked up lunch

I'm actually pleased with myself for my choices....🏆win thus far for day 1 of better food options.

As the 'queen' of waiting, I also carry with me a book to read.

I was able to get a few chapters read before it was time to work race event 2 of the day...

Earth Day 3K was a super small race event [7 other races scheduled today]....36 were signed up and though small it was a great event put on by John & Nicholasville parks & rec.

They always provide the Best awards....

Ruger was 1st place Paw'runner.....

The 'kid' [bottom right] won 3rd woman overall & 1st in her age group!

Even with a small race I took lots of photos... race results haven't been posted yet 😞we didn't have our official timer here for this race, but the timer that was there used his phone to record bib numbers/runners as they crossed the finish.

Next for today [my birthday level 69] was helping the Mr unload a truck load of compost,

Ahhhh, the memories. Anyone else??

This was for the Mr's church community garden. And as #TeamCline we help anyway we can. The compost was free from the city so beggars can't be choosers, the truckload filled 8 raised beds. Now off to yet another Busy Birthday Level 69 Day...

Finally finished with today's 1st day of level 69 adventures, and as always, I'm beyond grateful to be able to do what I do. Time to load up all of the photos, shower, and get rest for tomorrows adventures.

It's Soo Early...and it's gonna be a long'ish day! First up I'm in Nicholasville for the Earth Day 5K.

Runners Laced up running shoes for the 3K run/walk and Kid's "Little Footprint" Dash as money was raise for the Jessamine County Food Pantry.  This race is presented by Nicholasville/Jessamine County Parks & Recreation in conjunction with my team RaceRise.  In addition to the race, a collection of non perishable food items for the Food Pantry was Welcomed...There was lots of family friendly Earth Day activities and displays to enjoy before and after the race. It's was a Fun Morning seeing the Kiddo's.

Today's race charity beneficiary was the Jessamine County Food Pantry. Partial race proceeds and 100% of donations will go to support their mission. Additionally, we collected non-perishable food items at the race to donate to those in need. The Jessamine County Food Pantry has been serving Jessamine County since 2004 by providing food to those who need it most. Priding themselves on having an easy and relatively quick food distribution process. Next up is ....

So, since this event was in the same general area, I hung out in Nicholasville until time for Packet Pick Up.... this event has more participates in it and I'll be a bit more busier....

This is the 2nd year [I missed last year] and looking forward to seeing everything.

Partial race proceeds and 100% of donations received will benefit the Primate Rescue Center based in Jessamine County. The Primate Rescue Center is nestled on 30 acres in central Kentucky, with buildings and grounds designed to afford the animals a quiet, sheltered place to spend the rest of their lives. The centerpiece of the sanctuary is a state-of-the-art chimpanzee enclosure—currently home to 8 chimpanzees—that was completed in the summer of 2006, since updated with climbing structures and other improvements designed for the chimpanzees’ enrichment and comfort. An enclosed tunnel allows the chimps to choose where they want to spend their time and move between the spacious outdoor enclosure and their temperature-controlled sleeping and playroom areas.

In addition, the PRC features 10 custom indoor/outdoor monkey enclosures with heated houses; the nearly 40 primates occupying these enclosures can also choose where they wish to spend their time, and, except in the most inclement weather, most venture outdoors for at least part of the day. Providing a well balanced and nutritious diet for so many apes and monkeys is a monumental task: on an average day, our staff, volunteers, and interns process 300 pounds of fresh vegetables, fruit, lettuce, nuts and grains and prepare the primates’ meals in our industrial kitchen. The mission of the Primate Rescue Center is to alleviate the suffering of primates wherever it occurs by:

Providing sanctuary or referral to appropriate facilities

Working to end the trade in primates both in the United States and abroad

Educating the public to the plight of primates caught in the breeder/dealer cycle

Assisting researchers and zoo personnel in finding appropriate placement for surplus primates

Encouraging compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and animal welfare statutes.

Our race had two presenting sponsors who provided bourbon and wine tasting following the race....Alas, I unfortunately was not able to hang around afterwards to enjoy libations. I did however buy a bottle of Town Branch ONLY because, well...

GROOT !!

Love this Kid!!

I cannot believe he's so Grown UP!! He's active in Scouts, takes Many AP classes at school, plays Soccer for his school and on the regional 'Central Ky Storm Soccer Club' league.

It's been a Loong Day, and I've loved every minute of it. I love documenting via photos of races and events. Seeing the runners, giving them Hugs, Run Safe Wishes, high Fives....But receiving this message from one of my hiker Gal's  made My Day.
